Annual Volunteer Luncheon

The Sam Wyche Food Fight Bowl
Annually in September
Pickens and Easley High Schools enjoy a rivalry that is widely known as one of the
fiercest in South Carolina. In 2008, Pickens County Meals on Wheels harnessed the
intense competition between the football teams to help fight hunger. Dubbed the
Food Fight Bowl, the game allowed rivals to compete for ownership of the Food Fight
Bowl trophy.
Weeks before the big game, students raise money on behalf of Meals on Wheels. The
high school that raises the most money is the winner of the traveling Ultimate Food
Fight Trophy!

Charitable Foundation Golf Classic
The Reserve at Lake Keowee Community and Charitable Foundation contributed $6,500
to Meals on Wheels in November. These funds were raised through the Reserves’
Charitable Foundation Golf Classic held to benefit local charities.
This gift along with their previous donation of $5,000 this year will purchase
hot meals that will feed nine people for an entire year. The Reserve at
Lake Keowee also helps Meals on Wheels by delivering meals. Thirty-plus residents
make up The Reserve Driving Team. They drive three different routes and are on the
road every week delivering a hot meal and hope to people who would otherwise go hungry.
