E veryone has the right to food and shelter, yet too many seniors existing at or below the poverty line live in homes that are unsafe. A new roof, bathroom accessibility, or safety modifications can make it possible for a senior to remain independent, improving their lives and keeping communities strong.
In partnership with the Appalachian Council on Governments, the United Way of Pickens County and Duke Energy Retirees, we are able to offer minor home repairs to seniors in Pickens County.
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Resident of Pickens County.
- Live in the home.
- Individuals 60 years and older.
- Income at 150% of the poverty level or below.
Repairs are meant to be one day projects costing no more than $1,500/individual. ALL repairs are intended to help that person retain their independence and continue living safely in the home. Repairs include, but are not limited to:
- Minor floor repair.
- Minor roof repair.
- Grab bars.
- Other small repairs.
